water pipeWater Pipe

Oxford Plastics manufactures water pipe using polyethylene for transporting fresh and waste water to and from buildings as part of a municipal water system. Our heavy duty polyethylene pressure pipe is also designed for rehabilitating old water pipe using new trenchless technologies like horizontal directional drilling. We offer a complete range of polyethylene piping solutions for new municipal construction projects, the rehabilitation of existing water and sewer systems, road and even river crossings. Using hdpe pipe for your water distribution and wastewater disposal systems will not only eliminate expensive water loss, but it will reduce water contamination and harmful waste pollution.

Water pipes are conduit for moving potable and waste water to and from fixtures inside a building. These pipes can be made of plastic, i.e., polyethylene (PE), polybutylene (PB) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and metal, i.e., ductile iron or copper pipe. All can carry pressurized and treated fresh water to buildings (as part of a municipal water system), as well as to inside the building. The pipe that delivers the water from the source to the building is called the water service pipe, while the pipe inside the building is usually called the water distribution pipe. This system delivers both hot and cold water which shouldn't exceed a minimum temperature of 180°F at approximately 100 lbs per square inch. Anything higher will require a pressure reducing valve.

Why Select Hdpe Pipe?
Confronted by a rapidly aging water and sewage system that leaks and breaks down, munipalities and home owners are starting to recognize what others have known for years. That its possible to replace or install a virtually leak free water piping system at a relatively low cost and with very little disturbance.
Water pipe made with high density polyethylene is lightweight and can easily be installed or used to rehabilitate an existing system. Heat fusion makes a leak tight joint that is as strong or stronger than the pipe itself and will last the life of the pipe. Moreover, it's so flexible that any shifting in the ground caused by swelling and shrinking soil and even earthquakes will not damage it or cause joints to leak.

The combination of lightweight flexibility and leak free joints allow for unique and cost effective type of installation that is allowed for other piping materials that use bell and spigot connections. The flexibility of polyethylene pipe allows you to replace your existing water or sewer system utilizing the latest in pipe bursting, sliplining and directional drilling technologies. These methods allow builders and entire communities to rehabilitate their existing water pipe without incurring the huge cost of traffic interruption and surface restoration.

If you are looking for a new and effective way to solve the problem of a deteriorating water pipe consider the benefits of a leak free water pipe. Our water pipe is also

  • flexible
  • durable
  • corrosion resistant
  • light weight
  • leak tight
  • high flow rates

Potable and Waste Water Applications:
Hdpe pipe has repeatedly demonstrated that it has a projected service life of well over 70 years.
Oxford Plastics manufactures water pipe for both the supply of potable water and the disposal of waste water. Those applications include potable (drinking) water, reclaim water, intake water, raw water, wastewater, sewer force mains, sanitary and storm sewer systems, storm drainage, manholes, de-watering outlets, and culverts.
